By Jesse M., New City, NY

Newark, DE: The University of Delaware is located in the small town of Newark. I visited during their annual blue and gold spirit week and the campus was filled with pride and excitement.

The university looks like something from a movie, with brand-new buildings and squeaky-clean campus. Trees and lawns cover the campus, which, as a New Yorker, reminded me of Central Park.

There are 16,000 undergrads, 60 percent of whom come from out of state. Delaware residents pay $5,900 while out-of-staters pay $15,400. Room and board costs another $6,100.

Housing is guaranteed for all four years and all the dorms have state-of-the-art security systems, live-in staff and access to the Internet. The residence halls are standard, but those in the honors program have more spacious rooms.

Newark is clearly a college town and is full of school spirit. Its small size really makes you feel like you belong. If you want to get away, though, the ski slopes of the Pocono Mountains are within two hours.

The University of Delaware combines a beautiful campus, a great town and outstanding academics. I recommend you make a trip and see what it has to offer you.
