On December 26, 2004, a tsunami hit Asia that destroyed many homes and many more lives. I am a sophomore and my classmates and I felt horrible about this disaster. As a class, we decided to do something.

When we returned from winter break, our classes managed to bring in a little money each day to help those who were hit by the tsunami. Each day, that amount increased. Our English teacher set a goal of collecting $500 by the end of the week, but by Tuesday, we had already met this. Thanks to our donations, we were able to send a check to the Red Cross for $2,737. We accumulated this in five days. When the week was over, all the students in my English class felt as though they accomplished something, and we had. And we saw that nothing is impossible.
