By Caitlin S., No. Platte, NE

I was very moved by this piece in the November issue. It explains all too well how our country views homosexuality. I think the author is a very good role model by sticking with her best friend, no matter how different he is. It shows a lot of loyalty for her to stand up for her friend and be there for him even though she knows once he reveals himself as a homosexual, she too will have to put up with ridicule.

In our society, being different isn’t very accepted, but she still loves her best friend. People should learn from this. Being homosexual does not make you any worse of a person and no one should be treated that way. I wish I had a friend willing to stand up for me when no one else would. Rebecca, I think your friend is blessed to have you in his life.
