Teen Ink Magazine, April 2008 : Feedback Articles

Draw In the Fishing Line
by Kyle C., No. Platte, NE
This article by Afra N. was very informative. I had never given any thought to the fish population as it applies to us consumers. If we overfish, we will not only have shortages, but prices will increase dramatically.

Just a Color
by Carl B., Boise, ID
I am black so when I read the poem “Just a Color” by Olamide A., it hit me. It made me think, Why do I act so ghetto? Is it because I’m from Michigan, or because I’m black?

I loved this poem and could tell that Olamide has a lot of potential.

Miles Levin
by Peyton R., No. Platte, NE
I really enjoyed reading “Miles Levin” by Leah N. Miles is a hero and surely died one. I learned from this piece that Miles was a person who helped others. These types of stories really get to me and will encourage others to be stronger.

My Epiphany
by Alison G., Phoenix, AZ
I agree with Eugene M.’s article, “My Epiphany.” You need to think through life instead of blocking it out. You need to have values for yourself. He explains that you need goals or you will never know where you’re headed.

Poetry
by Jamie D., Newark, DE
Teen Ink has many great features, all of which I love and enjoy reading. However, I believe there should be more poetry. Poetry makes everything come alive. Seeing, hearing, and reading poetry brings joy to my heart.

Poetry calms me when I am upset or hyper.

Poetry Submissions
by Lillie W., White Bluff, TN
Every time I submit a poem online to Teen Ink, I’m asked, is it fiction or nonfiction?

On the surface the question seems simple. Is it real or made-up? Did it happen or not? With prose the answer may be simple, but it is difficult to label a poem in such definitive terms.

Proverb Man
by Daria C., Brooklyn, NY
It’s amazing how this piece touched my heart. “Mulberry Leaves into Silk Gowns” by Brenda Y. was not only a story of what happened in a well-told narrative; no, it was a realization put into words. I sometimes think about things like this.

Secrets and Mistakes
by Fancisco C., Glendale, AZ
I found Amy C.’s article, “Secrets and Mistakes,” extremely moving. She was too young to be engaged. It takes time to know that you really love someone. It is touching that you tried so hard to be together.

Silent Cry
by Meghan S., Phoenix, AZ
I didn’t enjoy reading “Silent Cry,” but I am glad I did. Although this article on sexual crime was morbidly vivid, it needs to be heard. The intensity of sex crimes is often underestimated. It can only be truly understood by its victims.

The Silenced Sorcerer
by Sammie R., Boise , ID
I was about to start reading your magazine when I noticed a story on the cover: “Why Schools Ban Harry Potter.” It immediately caught my attention, being a huge fan of the series. I wholeheartedly agree with the writer, Jared M.

Woes of a High School Singleton
by Leah N., Phoenix, AZ
I loved Caitlin L.’s “Woes of a High School Singleton” because of her description and opinions on teen love – and her lack of a boyfriend. I wholeheartedly agree with her point that boyfriends in high school are not a necessity.
