You keep me tightly wound around your wrist
Likethe string to a child's new balloon
So determined not to allow me to soar tothe clouds
I wriggle and writhe against my restraints
Pulling, stretching,straining
Toward the freedom of the sky
You hold tighter still
I am yourmost prized possession
If I escape these confines
Who will you have toparade around the streets
If I break this string
The brightly coloreddisplay that serves as your security
Will float away, relishing the taste ofindependence
You become panic-stricken
Yanking, grabbing, holding
Tokeep me a prisoner of this earth and yourself
So I wait, plotting myescape
Until one day
When you've let the string go slack
And I unwindmyself quickly from your hand
Without your notice, I slip away
By the timeyou look back
I will be dancing among the clouds
