By Juan R., No. Platte, NE

Carlos, I liked your story, “A Proud Latino,” in the March issue. It made me think of myself. All my life I have been striving to be the best I can be. I recently was named Student of the Month, was elected into National Honor Society, and have been on the honor roll since freshman year. I did all this for my future, to make my parents proud, and also to show people that not all Mexicans are the same. There are plenty of us out there who want to work in an office, not just flip burgers.

It makes me happy that there are other people just like Carlos and me trying to show people that not all Hispanics will end up working for minimum wage.
