By Diandre P., Point Pleasant, NJ

     My dog killed a bird
and ate it.
I saw the blood
and the fur
in the snow.
The next day I found my dog
frozen in my pool;
her face trapped above the ice.
Mother said there is nothing we can do
but wait ’til spring
when the ice melts.
