Teen Ink Blogs

By Nadia T., Palm Bay, FL

A churning mind knew no deep breath
Until a panging heart knocked on its door
The busy mind recognized
The eager heart’s sincerity
As some form of intrusion
And thus let it enter on in
It knew its mistake
One easily made
By the witty and deprived
The wrenching heart prodded and pulled at
The mind’s worn places
The mind made note of the heart’s many gaping cavities
The heart’s invasion
Soon became the mind’s new weapon
Against itself
The heart knew too
Of its strong arsenal
