     poetry
there’s no poetry
a girl sings
a man strums a guitar silent
city slickers stop by
to be with those
they’ve yearned for
but they haven’t found
what they’ve sought
there’s no poetry here
each has kissed honeyed lips
and each has had exotic coffees
and each has roamed city streets at twilight
and each has browsed bookstore aisles
and each has held a breath
and each has not found
what he’s been in search for
searching
stars, stars
they talk and talk forever
but when will they find
city slickers all waiting
teach them how to shine
teach them how to speak
teach them how to shine
