Underneath the Apple Blossoms

Teen Ink Blogs

By Tom D., Congers, NY

And so, some nights, some starry,
Starry nights. We’d sit, you’d
Laugh and lie on top of that
Hill lined with ferns, crested
At the top with a circle of trees.
Over time, those trees, they morphed
Into the shape of two hearts wrapping
Into one. The hearts, apples in fact,
Dropped slowly to the ground as we
Lay; we basked in the glow of
The stars that gleamed.
And we dreamed. Until the stars
Lost their brilliance, and the apples
All fell: crashed to the ground
With cores exposed.
