The World Divided

Teen Ink Blogs

By Allie G., Fairfax, VA

The world divided
into the words on the page,
empty and colorless,
and those unwritten,
undescribed,
not words
but the feel of the ground
under bare feet,
and the budding trees
newly minted with spring,
and the curving path
leading from house to driveway,
from driveway to street,
to somewhere I can’t see
as I sit with my book
of words, heavy and unyielding,
leading ...
to a definite end
from a meaningless beginning.
The world divided
into long, narrow strips
by the blinds on my window.
