By Willow A., Grass Lake, MI

Hush baby, don’t you cry,
Just sing yourself an alibi,
And if that alibi won’t do,
The firing squad will see you through.
Hush baby, don’t you cry,
Cross your fingers and try to lie,
And if that lie does not sound true,
The gavel’s fall will see you through.
Hush baby, don’t you cry,
Close your eyes and say good-bye,
And if that good-bye is lost in the ado,
Your broken heart will see you through.
