By Kimberly B., Hilton, NY

I never think of you
I have no reason to
Once, I almost thought of you
then I remembered
I don’t remember you.

When the sun goes down, it doesn’t remind me
how you always had to watch it

When the light turns red, I don’t wonder
if you would’ve blown right through it

When my ice cream melts, I never laugh
at how you loved rainbow sprinkles
almost as much as you loved your car, or your dog, or your sister

or me

In fact, nothing reminds me of you
Not how much the sky looks like your eyes
Or how the sun looks like your smile
Or how your kindness and your wisdom and your touch
could get me through anything
in the whole, wide world
Even the saddest sadness or the sorriest loneliness
Or the most gruesome fear of the ragingest madness -

No, I never think of you.
