By Katey W., San Diego, CA

I am from the mist settling over the canyon
To the crashing of waves off the side of the coast
I am from the glistening of large droplets of water falling on a midwinter’s day
From the top of the rainbow to the bottom of the lake

I am from the silvery disc placed in the computer
To the crisp pages of bestseller pages
And the rolling film in the darkened rooms buzzing through the air
I’m from Cinderella to Snow White, from Puff the Magic Dragon to the flying of fairies

The barking of the dog and swimming of aquatic animals
To the colors seen and unseen
I’m from the tracks zooming along with their fierce wheels
The tooting of the pipe with buttons and challenges

I am from the journey to the destination
I have seen the end but lived through the calamity and fatigue
I’ve felt the bubbles whisk through my hair yet I have not yet made a bubble
I am from the darkest place there is to the light of your life.
