By Ivy S., Loganville, WI

sometimes I wonder if I’m the only one left real
other times I know I am
it lies in simple words
and sits in simple lies
“if only they could, they’d care”
and if only I could, I wouldn’t ask them to
sometimes I think they’ve all left me cold
there are times I leave before they can
some days I don’t trust anyone
and more often I realize how smart for that I am
sometimes, though, they’re here with me
and some days I don’t care who is real
once in a while things are even perfect
sometimes I think I’m not the only one left real
