By Kayleigh R., Wichita Falls, TX

addictions fed,
desperately trying
to grab hold
of life.
missing the bulk
of the matter
and ending up
with something short;
less of our own
expectations.
clinging to power/money/substance
(pick your poison).
we're all going to die
in the end.
do you prefer something
sweeter than this?
you're addicted/convicted/suspected.
(is this what you thought it'd be?)
you missed
the bulk of the matter
and have come to find
hangovers are
your morning coffee.
