By Michael Z., Califon, NJ

(after Galway Kinnell)

I love to feel the water in late July
The calm, cool waves of water
To swim in the morning
With the wind cool, a pleasure
Under the calm, cool morning sky
Off the glistening waves, as they hit the rocks
Giving a sound to my ear, the sand
Underneath sticking to my feet,
As words sometimes do, calm, cool feelings
Like explanations of beauty found in the depths of the sea
Which I enjoy, live, and need
In the calm, cool atmosphere of swimming in late July. <
