By Ivy Marie S., Loganville, WI   (More by this author »)

You wouldn't stop
talking about the things happening now
But I was here
dead skin and skeleton frame
but finally alive
and I just wanted to let the ghosts tell me
all about the past.
but you didn't care
'cause the basketball hoops were new.

I could feel a million children
laughing and running past me,
happy forever,
but you didn't care
because Mrs. H had twin boys
and they were the cutest you'd ever seen.

Everything had changed
they tore down my memories
but you didn't listen
'cause you had so much to say
about the dance there last weekend.

And really, if I would have known the truth
I would have been miserable
and I was never really happy
but that's how I like to remember it,
happy forever
but you wouldn't let me remember
because you were too busy living in now.
