There is an oldadage,
"Let sleeping dogs lie."
But sometimes I don't
Wantto.
Sometimes I want
To shake that
Wretched mutt
Until itattacks,
And feel its teeth
Tear
Into my flesh.
I want to shakethings up.
I don't want to let
Sleeping dogs lie,
And I don'tthink
Ignorance is bliss,
And I don't want to leave
Well enoughalone.
If this is "well enough" -
Nuclear weapons,
Globalwarming,
Imminent violent war,
Rampant fascism,
And religious franchisewars -
Then as whatever-god-exists as my witness,
I will not now,
Norwill I ever
Leave well enough alone.
That dog's gonna get a smacking.
