Teen Ink Blogs

I cross theborder
(showing ID, of course),
I leave the restraints of"Grammar-land" easily
and encompass the freedom of"Poem-wood"
Here I am unfettered by rules,
unruled bybooks.
I put a comma, here, here, or even there,
And then write anincomplete thought
to pass as a sentence.
I use exclamation marksfreely!
not stopping to contemplate
I am no longer afraid of thegoverning body,
ruling supreme in the wake of red ink.
I misusegerunds
and think in nonparallel terms.
I write because Ican,
not because I have to.
But soon I hear the bell, beckoningme.
And sadly I step over the threshold of the classroomdoor.
