By Nicole G., Presque Isle, ME

   The sky becomes overcast

a violent wind passes

through the trees

causing the treetops to sway

back and forth

leaves scatter to and fro

across the winding dirt road

a lone car passes silently

as a bolt of lightning

splits the sky

illuminating a path on which to pass

two lonely eyes gaze from the unlit house

out at the spectacular event

taking place on the big screen

wishing, wanting, waiting

for the moment

when the rain will come

pounding down

washing away

all the ugliness

of the world.
