The War

Teen Ink Blogs

By Kate C., Norton, MA

Their faces were blank, but their

eyes told their thoughts. They don't

know what is growing inside.

We could talk until the night ended,

but we still worked nothing through.

I can only help you do so much, I can't make

the pain go away they say.

What's left if I have to face the monsters

inside the ones I love.

They come out at night or when the sun shines

too bright. Or if it's raining or when I stand

on one toe.

I protest for respect but the war goes on.

A sharp bladed sword and shields of gold or

maybe a tree to climb high in the sky will

protect me from the fierce fire growing

inside!

But the war is over before it's begun,

Because I am not the fighting one.
