Dramatic Text

Teen Ink Blogs

By Laura A., Norwich, CT

   Living in a tragic world,

we know not what comes next,

Till we like toys are hurled,

and find some shelter in our dramatic text.

Our tomorrows are unclear,

Our yesterdays a haze,

the day goes by and night is near,

I wander through a maze.

Change is all around me,

I'm surrounded on every side,

my vision blurs, I cannot see,

I want to run and hide.

Instead I stand my ground and take my pen,

and write a lyrical verse,

I think, I cry, and finally write,

Then I quench my creative thirst.

I reassure my place in the world,

Still being tossed and hurled,

I still know not what comes next,

But I can find shelter in my dramatic text.
