Teen Ink Blogs

By Patricia D., Dorchester, MA

   Gaze

Into my looking glass

And echo

All

That is there.

Silvery tides

Of moon,

Amidst a star-studded space,

Sweep

Over ivory pillars

And towers of pearl.

Cherubs and Seraphim

Dance and play

In silky

Night air.

A fuchsia sea

Caresses

Endless miles

Of melodious sand -

Each,

A grain of crystal,

Playing tunes

Of the fragile hopes

And dreams

Of the artist.

A brilliant

Watercolor rainbow

Of blue, red, and green

Emotions,

Defying night's

Wrath.

Perfumed rose petals

Begin to fall -

Kisses of angels

To bid

Sweet dreams.

A clandestine

Citadel,

My city

Of solace.

Rub your eyes

As you may,

The looking glass

Does not deceive.

Writhing

Within is the hunger

For understanding,

And ignorance

Has a violent

Heart,

For the rose petals,

Perfumed memories,

Are withered,

Crisp with death -

No longer sweet

Kisses of angels,

But the running

Colors

Of the rainbow,

The artist's bitter

Tears.
