By Gwendolyn S., Westford, MA

He sits there

his eyes staring

at the wall,pensively

Studying its texture.

A nervous tic

comes over his eye

And he winks

at everyone

but doesn't mean to.

His legs tingle

and his head shakes,

His soul wanderlust

His body motionless.

He envisions dance,

His body engaged in legless dancing.

He sees bombs.

He sees friends. . .

Exploding all around him.

He then sees reality and

cries out in desperation

to the quiet, ignorant world around him.

And then he dances again,

skitting across the sky

lightly, tirelessly

But his feet. . .legs. . .his waist. . .

All is motionless.

Except for his imagination.

Except for his dreams.

Except for his spirit.

The only things 'Nam didn't take.
