Teen Ink Blogs

By Stephen D., Needham, MA

   The beep-sheep sat

In a pasture of the greenest grass

And wondered why the predicted things

Had not come to pass.

The year was 2012,

But the stars still shone in space

And the predictions had been mistaken:

The sun still warmed the earth's face

People still loved to learn

Books still were on their shelves

Technology had not overcome all

And people still thought for themselves.

But the beep-sheep sat

And wondered why

The sky was still blue

Like the past skies.

Why had he not changed

The way people had said?

He was a child of a different age

But on his fathers' land he fed.

The beep-sheep contented himself

With the thought that he still thrived

And everything hadn't changed,

The comforting basics had survived.
