   What does it mean?

Is it a reptile or a fowl?

Is it a cackle or a howl?

Is it a washcloth or a towel?

What does it mean?

What does it do?

Can you put it in your shoe?

Does it adhere when it is glued?

Does it cheer you when you're blue?

What does it do?

How is it used?

Is it an adverb or a noun?

Is it for clergy or for clowns?

Is it in cities or in towns?

How is it used?

A word is very special

And its meanings are unique

So must it mean the same to all

If they use it when they speak?

If I say cool, does it have to mean

"Chilly or self-possessed?"

And when I say neat must it mean

"Clean or tidily dressed?"

Words can mean more than one thing

Just think of all the fun they'll bring?

If you say this, can't it be that?

If you say bumpy, I can't call it flat?

Words are a freedom

A way we can express

Our feelings of love, confusion,

And our stress

If you say tomato, I'll say it too

But I might not mean the same thing as you!
