By Deborah K., Swampscott, MA

    i'm sitting here

trying to write

A POEM

why?

sometimes i don't rhyme my poems

or i Don't use Capital Letters

or i write about death, war, fate, misery

and other profound things

just because people think

that that's

poetic.

that's not poetry

it's social commentary.

sometimes

(like now)

it's just because

i'm sick of good grammar

of meter of rhythm

and format and

speling

and rules and limits and

making my bed and poetry

and this is how i

escape.
