Life's Sweet Temptations

Teen Ink Blogs

By Jennifer D., Waltham, MA

I must tell you that when I saw

Those goodies on the table

I told myself that I would avoid

Them well as I was able

But alas, I couldn't resist

And so I had a bite

But then my stomach asked for more

I couldn't put up a fight

A little of this, a lot of that

This treat couldn't be neglected

Oh, this looks good, and this looks great

This cake can't be rejected!

And now I sit here, stomach full

My body wracked with guilt

If I were brave to weigh myself

The scales would surely tilt

And yet, I feel an afterglow

While my stomach growls with strife

Why not enjoy yourself sometimes?

You only have one life!
