The Tear

Teen Ink Blogs

By SUZANNE H., Newton, MA

A smile creeps to my mouth

But quickly vanishes.

Everyone else is laughing.

A tear slides out

From the corner of my eye.

Slipping slowly down

Around my nose,

Over my cheek,

The tear reaches my mouth.

As I blink and try

To hold back a flood.

Like trying to stop a train

With a twig,

The gates open

As rivers and streams

Make their way

Quickly down my face.
