Milk & Honey

Teen Ink Blogs

By Cristine J., Lee, NH

   realizing what she just said,

I smiled - sorrow filling in the cracks

no time, too busy for a happy moment?

butterflies are to ride free,

not confined by some educator's net

important, but not life,

take a bubble bath when the need strikes

I said

only she was scribbling away

(some new project)

look how bright I shine,

look how far you fall from full

you don't see it that way,

I imagine,

you find it full enough for four

only I myself could never live on fiber alone,

I need milk and honey too -

climbing trees and scraped knees

prove better learners

than books will ever let it be known,

knowledge is wonderful, special,

but breathing is beyond even rainbows.
