By Laura K., Reno, NV

in math we learn that “not equal to” and “less than” don’t mean the same thing.
just because five doesn’t equal seven doesn’t mean seven is less than five.
seems like most of the world just didn’t pay attention in algebra.
our differences start out small and get smaller
as we move down the ladder of scorn.
who despises the other more?
orchestra snob or band geek
republican or democrat
cat-lover or dog-lover
christian or muslim
blonde or brunette
scholar or dunce
woman or man?
people ridicule,
but numbers
never
do.
