Global Leadership Adventures

GLA offers volunteer programs for teens in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Participants explore historic and natural sites, learn the local language and history, and serve the community through volunteer efforts.

Need help selecting the right teen volunteer program for you? Whether you are interested in high school study abroad or simply want to spend a summer volunteering abroad on meaningful community service trips or projects, we have the program for you. Since everyone is different, the best program for you depends on your interests and motivation. We offer teen study abroad summer programs that focus on themes ranging from environmental issues, volunteering with children, poverty alleviation, public health, international relations and even sports and community service.

Do you want to spend summer break from high school doing community service in a rural area, or in a city? And lastly, are you most interested in one of our teen community service trips to Africa, Asia or Latin America

Here are some factors to consider: How long do you want to be a teen volunteer abroad? What topics would you like to study while abroad? Is practicing a foreign language a requirement? Do you prefer volunteering with children, animals or in nature?

As you're reviewing these comments, you may want to consider the following: GLA has a "student ambassador" program and pays a referral commission to students when a friend enrolls in their program. Additionally, you may want to note the fact that the dates these comments were posted are all within two weeks of eachother, which is an indicator that students were incentivized to post these comments. This summer I went to Costa Rica with GLA and it was an amazing adventure. I not only returned with a new perspective for the world but memories that will last forever. I learned Spanish the best way possible and learned about the culture in a different part of the world. I have a greater appreciation for everything now and I've noticed such a change in my self since I've returned from my trip. I traveled to Ghana over the summer with Global Leadership Adventures and had such an amazing time! I left and returned a completely different person and would not trade my experiance for anything in the world. With the help of GLA, I have been inspired to continue making a difference, here at home. I'll never forget my time in Ghana, and I highly reccomend creating an experiance of your own! GLA gave me an amazing summer that will stay with me forever. I made friends and had an amazing time with our group. We became aware of the many differences other countries had from ours and learned about how we could make a change. I would definitely recommend other teens to look into the program and see the many programs it offers.

GLA is absolutely amazing! It's an incredible way for teenagers who are concious of the world around them to experience other cultures and help communities in need. Going on two GLA trips last year taught me more than I could ever learn by reading a textbook. On top of the knowledge I gained, I made some of my best friends during my trips! I think that GLA is an amazing program for teenagers and all teens should get the chance to experience what I did through it. I love GLA because it's an amazing and safe way to become globally aware. I was able to experience things that some will never get to do in a whole lifetime. It really opened my eyes to life around us and made me feel  important. I plan on changing the world one day and GLA really helps you in guiding your path!!!

This is such an AMAZING program! If you are a teen, please don't waste any more time because this is seriously such an amazing experience. You meet so many new people, you get to live within a different culture, and you get the chance to develope into a great leader. I wish I had been inroduced to this program earlier in my teen years because I would have loved to of had the chance to go on more trips! My trip to Peru with Global Leadership Adventures made my summer the most memorable I've ever had! I got to experience a complete different way of life, where the kids were raised in poverty and struggled against malnutrition daily. Yet, these kids were happy. So ridiculously happy just to be alive. And they were more than willing to embrace a bunch of teenagers into their daily routine! Knowing that it would be these kids that benefitted from our volunteer work made my GLA trip special.

Through GLA I made life long friend while exploring the most AMAZING islands! I traveled to the Galapagos with them and it was an eye opening and life changing experience! Hi! My name is Erin Bryk and am an Ambassador for GLA. I went on a Global Leadership Adventures trip to Thailand this summer and loved it. Not only was I able to do community service, but I was able to explore a different culture. We did many awesome activities like zipling, hiking, bike riding, and riding elephants. Global Leadership Adventures is great!! I went on the Dominican Republic trip last summer and it was so life changing. Going on the trip made me realize how valuable the environment is. While there we also did so many great adventures, like jumping off waterfalls and snorkeling! It also gives you a real sense of independence because you fly by yourself. I met some really cool people while there, and i also got credit in my high school for attending it. I really recommend looking into it. :)

I traveled to Ghana this summer with Global Leadership Adventures and it was literally the best three weeks of my life. You never feel unsafe, uncared for, or out of place. Between your mentors, fellow students, and American and in-country directors, you form a disfunctional family but know you can talk to anyone about anything.
