I experimented with foreshortening and facial expression in this piece to create a photograph-like mood, as if my friend who was posing for me was actually posing for an awkward photo. The figure's facial expression is integral to the piece, I think, because without that dream-like giggly smile, this piece would be a rather ordinary portrait. I was also opting for a clash between the black/white medium (which tends to create a more stern atmosphere) and the playful facial expression.« read less
this is great, you made it to where the viewer can feel the movement in the picture...it is still but there is an action that is definitely noticeable and present...wonderful!
