The Not-So-Quiet Guy Pt. 2

It was Thursday, the day that I confronted the guy and made him speak a few words for everyone to hear.
I still remember the gasps and whispers that aroused in the classroom. I remember the few words I have written for my assignment of a fiction story:
There he was, leaning over at his desk, eyes squinting in annoyance and concentration…
He annoys me as much as he annoys everyone else in class, especially my best friend,Jenny Craig. Sometimes we wonder whether he's even a real person or just plain alien. This frightens the beans out of me.
The following Thursday, our English teacher,Mr. Halloway asks what my fiction story is about.
"It's relevant to an actual event." I tell him. Never tell lies. Especially when he is about to make me stand at the podium and read what I wrote. He always pick on me.
"Summarize,if you will?" He twitches his bushy, brown mustache and folds his large arms on his muscular chest.
I look around the room. Everyone here was my friend.

Except Him.

They all liked my writing and everything I had to say.

But maybe not Him.

Yet…

"It's a-about this guy…" I tell him and everyone begins to whisper and gossip as they usually do.
Mr. Halloway raises his eyebrows,"Go on…a romance I see?"
I shake my head,"No. It's more of a social problem."
Out of the corner of my eye,I see Bill's eyes rise in curiosity. I give a weak smile at Jenny and begin to lift up my assignment.
"There he was, leaning over at his desk, eyes squinting in annoyance and concentration. He is motivated to help others and associate with them, but isn't sure how to approach. He is mocked or whispered of many times when his back is turned. Many, such as I,pity such a treatment that others have given him."
Silence meets me.

I turn to Mr. Halloway. He looks irritated. I glance at Bill. His face is crimson red in rage and embarrassment. What was he thinking? Is he REALLY mad?

I wish I could read his mind 24/7.

Just before Mr. Halloway speaks,Jenny stands up and claps.

Just an echo of her hands slapping against one another.

Before everyone starts to applaud for me. I smile. Mr. Halloway smiles. Bill sits there, face now receding to a pink shade.
"That wasn't much of a fiction story. I did enjoy, however, the meaning and writing structure. Needs more effort Ms. Woods." He laughs and walks to his desk. I beam at myself and kids pat me on the back.
"Now,for the next assignment presentation…"

Dolphins are jumping in beautiful, graceful arcs at the Community Aquarium. It's the only one in North Philly. Many kids from school visits the area after school for some entertainment of some sort. I like the Dolphin Chambers best.
Bill works there. He started last month when he first arrived. I watch as he feeds the Dolphins squeal in its amused noise as Bill enters and feeds it something from a bucket. I laugh and started to talk. I never had the courage in the let four weeks, but after the encounter last Thursday.
"So,where did you move here from?" I ask.
"Texas. A pretty hot place if you ask me." He turns to me and hands me a bucket of water.
I take it to a large sink at the back to the installment where all the big sinks were. "Do you work here for a living or what?"
He shakes his head,"Community service. Calms me down unlike any other after school activities." He gives me a smile and them started to smooth a dolphins back, skimming the pristine water.
"Don't you get bored of it. Don't you play sports or read books or join any clubs?" I ask with despair at how boring he may be.
" Well,I do have a book club. Isn't this considered something to do,like a Helping-animals club?" He points out and watch as the dolphins start to dance in the air with jumps and rainbow arcs that sprays us both.
"That's interesting. However, this club-- "Helping -animals club as you call it? Well,a club would involve two or more people. There is only you and me."
He looks around for proof of my observation.
"You are absolutely right. Why don't you invite your friend,Jenny, over next Thursday. Three times the charm for this club." He stalks out to a closet and returns with a beach ball. He tosses it to a motivated dolphin and it balances it on its nose. I clap and laugh.
"What do you say?" He turns and asks.
"Sure." I nod and gather my things to return home.
