A Vacant Room

A vacant room. Sullen. Only memories remain. Screaming spirits of the past are sometimes heard. Dangling from the wall diagonally are the last few frames. Broken shards of fine china were scattered on the floor as remains of a fight that stole many lives. It all started when a greedy king did not want to share his surplus food during a feast with the poor slaves who ate so less but worked so long. The slaves were angry that they had to work all day but eat so less. So, they caused an uprising so big and violent the neighbors thought there was an earthquake. Brothers went against brothers in an old-fashioned food fight. Beautiful French delicacies, goblets, furniture, armory and dishes full of what ought to be a delicious meal were pelted at everyone in the room. Due to confusion and poor aiming, the teams were unclear. The king accidentally threw a few cream puffs at the prince, his son. His son then attempted to avenge upon the king with ratatouille, but hit his step-cousin instead. This caused an ultimate rivalry, and the distant relatives and friends eventually entered the brawl as well. In the midst of all this drama, the slaves escaped to Africa on a boat. Eventually, the king and the rest of his men all murdered each other. As for myself, I was an innocent witness who was waiting for the drama to end so I could enjoy the legendary feast at the palace. And I still can’t believe I’m telling you this while I’m trapped in a wooden rectangle in that very room.
