Ok so my school is doing this read around the world thing, where you have to read books that take place outside of the US. Any ideas?

Umm, you could try some of Amy Tan's books, like "The Joy Luck Club". You could also read "Memoirs of a Geisha", that one's really good! The movie's fantastic, too :)

I agree with Callie on Memoirs of a Geisha, it's a great read... Ok so you should also read The Hunger Games ;) It takes place in the future ( yeah yeah I know : in North America ) but the US doesn't excite anymore, it's called Panem so maybe it would work. Either way read it if you haven't, it's the best trilogy ever ! Or : North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley ( it takes place in the States AND in China ) OR ( I had to read this in school ) Sold by Zana Muhsen, which is a true story and takes place in Yemen. It's really sad but beautiful at the same time... Hope I helped !

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas Germany

Number the Stars (A little young, but good) Denmark

The Old Man and the Sea Cuba

Great Expectations England

The Kite Runner (One of my alltime favorites) Afghanistan

A Thousand Splendid Suns (By the same guy who wrote The Kite Runner - not as good, but it's still a great book) Afghanistan

Rice Without Rain Thailand

Anne of Green Gables Canada

Hope that helps!
