Because you like to write the stories you write and the stories need to be written. XD

You write sci-fi. You've written at least one novel and several other shorter pieces. You also like to write poetry.

Aha! I've got you there! I don't write sci-fi, I've got a fantasy novel. Okay, I've been told that some of my descriptions come off as mechainical. Any ideas to help?

Hmm...let me find one in one of your pieces...Okay, so I read Dark Night 2, Part 1. You're right. Some of your descriptions are a little plain, predictable almost. Here's a tip: Don't use color names so often in that way. For instance:
red blood
yellow bucket
Instead of just saying what color something was, or what it was, say something more stimulating than just plain 'red' and yellow'. Add other adjectives too, for instance:

scarlet trickle
Grimy mustard-colored bucket
Et cetera. Same with stuff like 'blond hair'. Try to make it more interesting. Say her hair is 'blond with light brown streaks that gleamed under the light of the cheap lightbulb overhead'.

But remember, all in moderation. You don't want too many killer descriptions, or you kill the piece. If you have too many, you'll start to sound like you're trying to quote Shakespeare.
Hope this helps.

I read one of his plays (Much Ado About Nothing), and it was pretty good. I guess it's an acquired taste. :)

The guy who invented Sherlock Holmes? Well, here's a secret: I've never read or watched anything Sherlock-related. I was a Nancy Drew girl when I was younger. :P
