the books are truly awesome! Anything by Rick Riordan is really good. So yeah the books are as good as the movie, but the books are better. XD

The books are really excellent and well-written, but the movies totally missed out on a lot of the great action kept inside the books. Well, the first book, but it was still really great.

I LOVE the series. I am quite obssessed with Greek mythology, it made it all the more interesting to see how the characters would be portrayed. I didn't really mind that the movie messed things up a bit; I still enjoyed it.

If you are into the whole greek mythology, like I am, then you'll love it. The series is packed with adventure, romance, action, and learning new things(name of god/goddesses and such). If you do read this, which you should because every one of them is awesome and the detail is magnificent then you should read The Last Olympian, the prequel of the Percy Jackson series. This has new characters, all set in their views after every other two chapters, but still has all the main classic characters(besides Grover and Percy...but you'll figure out why). Hope you test all of them out!!

These books were amazing, even though, in my thoughts, they completely screwed up the movie. If you loved these books and want more, there is The Lost Hero, which is basically in the same series, but from someone elses perspective, or the Red Pyramid, which is about the Egyptian Gods. Both are not as equally good as the Percy Jacksons, but definitly worth reading.

The next book in the Kane Chronicles is finally out! It's called the Throne of Fire. Also, I discovered that the Kane Chronicles is going to have three books in all, and the Heroes of Olympus in going to have FIVE!!!I'm soo psyched.

Oh yeah the book is good. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE SERIES. You must read it. I think I reread them quite a few times. Definitely better than the movie, but that goes for nearly every book turned into a movie. :)

Cool! The movie was okay, but I have to admit that I like the book much better. The reason why I don't like the movie very much is that there is a lot missing.

i don't think they would ever make a second movie, because they eliminated Clarisse! she is important in the second book!!!
also, Rick Riordan fans, he did some of the books in the 39 clues series; he has made some mini stories that are between some of the books. they are about (SPOILER!!!)
clarisse and percy agreeing to be friends, a big metal dragon, and i think there is one more??? they were in a book with some character profiles. was cool.

I first read the books about fourth grade, then I watched the movie and i hated it because i grew up with the books so it didn't fulfill my hopes.

I live the books and I have read the Kayne series, the Percy Jackson series, and the Heroes of Olympia they are all by the same guy I love them and I want him to hurry up and finish the Series.

The Heroes of Olympians series is basicly the Percy Jackson extended version and the Kayne series is about the Egiptains.

I'm probably the only person on here who wasn't crazy about those books.
[ducking to avoid the lynch mob]
I just don't happen to like fantasy that much, or messing with established historical/mythological characters. They're half-decent light reads, but nothing amazing.
I happen to have learned a lot about Greek, Roman and Egyptian mythology from his books, but I always had to check up the info so as not to have wrong ideas about it. Another reason why I don't like 39 Clues. They're funny, but they mess up history. I learned interesting stuff, but I'm pretty good at separating fact from fiction, as opposed to at least one kid I know, who included in his report on Benjamin Franklin that he was a Lucian. They also don't even seem to attempt to be historically accurate.
I might seem like I'm just nitpicking and fussy, but honestly, if they're going to bother doing something about history they shouldn't mislead kids. They could easily change the premise and not totally mangle history. Kids are impressionable.

Oh yes! Those books are AWESOME! You need to read them. The follow-up series, Heroes of Olympus, is great too. It has action, friendship, romance, and more! You'll love it!
