"Geal?" she asked a measure of hapiness leaking into her voice. She had always like Geal he was a good guy at heart and a brave fighter. She grimaced at his question, what had happened to her? She had lost focus and allowed herself to fall prey to a poorly aimed arrow, that's what happened.
"I was attacked on my way out of Drestas, after I saw the King get assassinated." she said wincing at the memory once again. She mentally rolled her eyes at herself commanding her brain to get a hold of itself as a calm night breeze gently lifted her hair and blew it gently across her back.
She absently moved her hand to her injured shoulder gently touching the bloadsoaked bandage. It was sore but she had figured there wouldn't be any long term damage to her arm. That didn't help with the massive amount of blood spilling from the jagged cut.
Geal gave her a sympathetic look and went to collect his horse. He walked beside Isabella, his mind spinning at the news. "The king is dead? Who killed him?" Geal asked. He watched Isabella with concern, her shoulder was bleeding through the bandage.
"I didn't properly see. Whoever it was got away before I stepped into the room," she had been thinking about why she hadn't entered into the room before she did, she could have saved him or at least seen who the killer was, "I was searching the city but after four guys tried to kill me I figured I was better off leaving as soon as possible."
She noticed the concern as he watched her but she disregarded it. She'd had worse before and she wasn't used to people worrying about her. She was so often on her own doing this and that and staying informed that she had never had much time for friends. In fact she had abandoned her family here for about a year. That was the last time she had been in the area and stopped by. That was only for a few days as well.
"Well you're lucky you made it out alive." Geal said. He turned to Aran, his face grim. "I can gather a battalion before dawn." He said. It looked like the expedition to the Fregata wood was off, but Geal didn't really mind. The king was dead, and that meant the whole kingdom was in danger of revolution.
