Vanalyn and his mother were right, "Patience gets you everywhere." He saw a figure walk slowly through the woods. He signaled for his troops to surround the figure but stay hidden. He himself started walking towards the figure. Every step closer, a malevolent smile spreads across Quilen's face. Nearing close enough that he could speak to the figure, he pulls out his handgun. He decided not to use his shotgun which is strapped tightly to his torso. "Kaiden, you're under arrest. Move so I can blow your head off." Quilen threatens as he trains his gun on the figure's head, not caring if it was or wasn't Kaiden.

Ceres has managed to escape most of the opwoods was its own posing obstacles. However, traveling through the forest was a challenge. Ceres was not as familiar with the layout of the land as she would liked to have been. Struggling to keep her footing as she was running, Ceres moved through the semi clear path. Her heart was beating fast and her breathing was ragged.
"KAiden, you're under arrest. Move so I can blow your head off."
The deep voice stopped her. She was far enough away to beat a safe distance. Ceres saw too men. One had a gun and the other was standing stiffly. Ceres moved closer watching the interaction. Both men to her were stangers, so she didn't really believe it to be any of her business. However, something made her pause. It wasn't right. No matter who he was, he can't go around threatening to kill a person. Setting her bag down, Ceres grabbed her small dagger, as if it could actually help her, and inched forward.
"Stop!" she cried.
This newfound bravery was foreign to her, and both heads snapped to her. Good going you idiot, she thought, now what are you going to do?

Quilen smiles and beckons his men to come out from their spots and surround all three of them. "Ah, Ceres, nice of you to join us. Jones, I want them alive. Injured, I don't care just make sure they're alive." Quilen told the cadet. "Your grandmother, she's well. I can take you to see her. Would little Ceres like that?" He says as he pulls his shotgun coward so he has a handgun in one hand and a rifle in the other. He's trained to shoot one handed. He knows that his men's guns are trained on Ceres and the figure, but he wanted to join I'm the fun too.

Egotistical pyschopath!
"It's sounds like such a lovely offer," Ceres replied looking at her new found 'friends', "but i think i sall have to decline, my good sir." So this is Quilen. No wonder Gram never talked about him.
The masochistic tint that had once been harbored on his features was replaced with one of a different emotion. Ceres could feel the men behind her move closer, guns trained on her and the boy. In that moment the boy glanced at her, his eyes were large and calm. IF this boy really was Kaiden she would not be surprised for her didn't look afraid at all. Meet adversity head on...
" I see you have found my friend here, he's a little strange in the head, " she stated half hoping the boy would go along with her suggestion. Raising her hands in a submissive way, Ceres tentatively took a step forward. However, she could have never predicted what would happen next.

Quilen saw her move and though he said he didn't care if she was wounded or not, he didn't want her wounded, shed be useless. A shot rang out and she faltered and more shots were fires. Quilen stood still as bullets started to fly. They only came from behind him and he never flinched, just watched.

Kaiden sprang into action, sprinting forward and swinging a fist at Quilen as he ran by. He felt a bullet clip his calf, and another fly by his ear. Faltering, he tripped over a tree branch and launched into the air. Slamming down hard, he wheezed for breath and tried to stand.

Ceres watched woth delayed reaction. The sound of multiple guns releasing their inner contents filled the air. She managed to dodge a fair share of the bullets, but a few grazed her in various places and one lodged itself into her upper arm. The pain was minimal. Ceres watched in amazement, the boy, Kaiden was faired roughly the same. She looked at Quilen. No remorse, no shock etched onto the man's features, just stone cold. Glancing back to Kaiden, Ceres saw his body slam onto the dirt. The soldiers were closing in on the group. Ceres felt the panic sink in. Turning quickly she groped arpund for her dagger. Once securely in hand, Ceres aimed for the nearest soldier, managing to have it rip through the arm of him. She replcated the move on several others all the while Quilen and Kaiden weretake their own matters into their hands.

Quilen refused to touch his face where Maiden's fist empacted with his face. He walks over to Kaiden, guns trained on the boy. "Stand up boy," he says as five soldiers close in around them. He pulls the trigger on his handgun and trains it right at Kaiden's third eye. Right in the middle of his forehead. He heard Ceres fight and right now he couldn't help but wonder where Vanalyn was.

Kaiden anticipated the gunshot, and then the darkness. It never did come, so he sighed.
"Go ahead and take me away, I suppose I've nothing to do now." He grumbled, holding out his wrists to be cuffed.

Quilen nodded his head to let the soldiers know to take Kaiden in. But just before they fully surrounded him, he fired a shot into Kaiden's knee. He then turned the gun on Ceres. "Come on darling, I already shot one saviour, I don't want to have to shoot the pretty one too." Quilen patronizes her.

(I'm sorry I was gone, I got really sick and computers and throwing up don't mix well...))
Ceres watched Quilen with as calm an expression as she could muster. She had heard the gunshot, knowing this man wasn't bluffing. Her eyes quickly darted to Kaiden. She coulnd't comprehend why he had given up. With disdain filled eyes, Ceres turned back to Quilen.
"I'm not your darling," she spat. However, Ceres knew there was no way she could manage her way out of this one unscathed. Her pride was making her choice exceedingly difficult.
Ceres stepped closer to the gun. "Fine. but at least lower that murderous machine, it will do more harm then good."
She loathed the thought of going anywhere with this man.
