Teen Ink on Twitter
(*takes deep frustrated breath* Oh man, guys I just TYPED MY WHOLE REPLY AND TEENINK DELETED IT *takes another deep breath* Excuse me while I try to go retreive my motivation to retype this again...so using word document from now on...
Oh, and on a side note, poor Jem? Hahahahahaha, more like poor Quentin and Hail who just had their heartwarming reunion scene ruined by Jem's bluntness lol xD So much awkward in one man....)
(That really sucks, Nacho. It's happened to me - always when I've finished the post, funny enough - and I feel a little piece of me die each time. -_- I always press CTRL C to copy it and then CTRL V if I need to paste it because TI deletes it.
You just can't trust TI. It's made me a suspicious person, lol.
And Jem is just one awkward man. He can't help it. XD Meanwhile, Quentin and Hail are choking to death...)
(This whole, Jem/Hail/Quentin scene is adorable. Jem is so awkward, and poor Quentin and Keegan, lol)
(And they're having to do this with Leona watching in. Everyone is just awkward-turtling it right now. XD)
(lol yes, if Jem was an animal, he'd be an awkward turtle. Or rather, an awkward tortoise because I think they're a lot bigger than turtles hahahahaha xD )
Eve Fort London
Eve was relieved when she left. Whoever "she" was. It gave her the permission to cough. And cough she did. As usual, it was a deep guttural sound, ripping up her throat and shaking her frame. Blood dribbled down her chin onto her chest like a baby. She was loud enough to only wake Eli, who was the lightest sleeper of them all.
"Evangeline." He breathed, his brown eyes tinged half with exhaustion, half with worry. Eve felt a pant of guilt leak through her, as if she could control her sickness. Eli only said her full name when he was really worried. As he approached closed, she could see the beginning of gray bags beginning to form under his brown eyes. Even his chocolate hair was ruffled in a bed head, no doubt from sleeping hunched up in the chair. Eli took her small hand in his, his long fingers warm and familiar."Are you okay? Do you need me to get the doctor?" He asked, as if he had done this several times before. With another blossom of guilt, Eve realized that Eli probably had. Only the other times, she was dillusional with pain or incomprehensible.
"I'm fine." She reassured with a whisper and a reassuring squeeze of his hand. Eve tried to smile, but it probably looked like a grimace. The pain was slowly beginning to come back in her side, but she refused to press that tempting blue button. No doubt she was under a limit of main medication."Just maybe a...napkin." Her attempted grin widened as she repeated the words she spoke to him a week ago. Eli tried to smile, for her.
"Of coarse. But I'm going to go get Jeremy, okay? He was supposed to come check on you anyways." Eli replied back determinedly, standing up an brushing his lips agains her forehead in a brotherly way. Eve didn't even try to protest; what was the point? It seemed that all the power and respect she had gained over the years was simply gone, with one illness. The thought was one that threatened to drown her, one that she kept at bay. The doctors had told her to not get worked up nowadays, since she was so fragile."I'll be right back."Eli added in a promise before he vanished.
Eve tried to hold back a sigh. This was what her last days had come to; being cared on like a child, dependent on everyone for everything, even with something as simple as going to the bathroom. She held back a shudder as she thought about asking for help to do those things. Yes, Eve would have rather died by a bullet any day. Anything would be easier than this. Anything.
Jem Fort London
Was it cruel, to just drop that peice of information on them like a ton of bricks? Possibly, though Jem didn't mean it that in the least. His apologetic gaze flickered from between Keegan and Quinten, who both were in the act of what Jem would call "chocking in shock". Maybe I should of told them in private...oops. Well, there's one more awkward mark for me.
It was hard to focus on family matters, though, considering they seemed trivial and maybe even a bit ridiculous on the information Leona was giving them. Jem felt his eyes widened and fingers clench around the edge of the table as he watched the holographic image of his leader.
"What? The General is going to be here?" Jem repeated, stunned as he ran a hand through his hair. It had grown out the past week, causing it to be more ruffled than his usual short trim. It even made him appear almost younger, illuminating his shock even more."But how...? Why...?" Jem asked softly, before taking in a del breath and straightening. If there was anything threatening about Jem, it was the expression that settled on his face.
"Alright. Stopping the General." He repeated, nodding with his jaw set. The thought of the General being so close to him made Jem wary, but if what Leona was saying was true--which probably was at this point--than he agreed with her full heartedly."He is obviously the threat here, to all of us." Jem paused, his hazel gaze flickering over to Keegan. It still held a tint of apology, though it was muddled with determination at a time like this."We can work something out, right? Do you have any idea where he'll be in the battle, Commander?" Jem asked, glancing over at her.
Snooze Dream Realm/Fort Bristol
"But...but I trust him, Nyx." Snooze felt the whine creep into his voice as he met her gaze, before he sighed, looking down at a stray plant he was playing with."I promise I'll be careful with Delias if you promise me you think he's not all that bad." He proposed, nodding, before his expression became troubled again and he moved closer to her, now sitting criss crossed.
"But where are you, Nyx? I'm at Fort Bristol. You know where that is?" He asked, almost desperately as he reached out and brushed her hand with his. Snooze so rarely reaches out first."I want to meet you in person, okay?" His green eyes were wide and pleading in his young face, and as he did with Jo, he eagerly held out his pinky."Pinky promise me that we'll meet?"
Leona/Hail: Bristol Base / Fort London
Hail, once he had finally regained control over how to breathe properly, nodded his head. "Of course. I'll get you inside."
Leona nodded at the Commander's response, even as she felt some of the tension leave her. When she turned back to Jeremy, it was with a little less weariness than before.
"Big Ben. I'm positive. He likes it grand, and that's as grand as it gets in London. He'll be right in the center of it all...we just have to be waiting for him."
She hesitated, and then decided against telling them the full extent of who Delias was - and what he could do. "I'll give you more information on him when I get there. Be ready for me." Her eyes flickered over to the human Commander, and she couldn't help but think how he - with Jeremy and the doctor beside them - was in for quite a night, if the drama she'd witnessed was any clue.
"Thank you, Commander Hail." She nodded at the doctor, Quentin. "And you, Doctor." Lastly, she turned to Jeremy, whom she offered a small smile. "Good work. Pass on my greetings to Captain Aurora and her soldier, would you? Though she'll be getting quite the promotion soon. You, too."
And with that, Leona turned off the communicator, turning back to Jo. "We need to go get Snooze and leave. Now."
Nyx: Fort London
Nyx took her pinky promises very seriously. They were law in her mind, and as she hooked her pinky with Snooze's, she felt the promise slide onto her shoulders like a weight.
"I promise we'll meet. I'm in Fort London...it's not too far from your base, actually."
She reached down and gave him a hug, sighing as she did so. "And I'll give Delias a chance. But he's done for if he hurts you."
Nyx gave a quick grin, but then the strangest of sensations fell over her. For a moment, the feeling that she was out of her body hit her. Of course, she'd been out of her body, but it was only until now that she felt it. Was this how Snooze and Delias felt all the time? It was odd, but Nyx also knew it meant she was waking up.
"I'll see you! I promise!" She held up her hand in a wave, as if to say goodbye, but by that time her eyes were open and Nyx was awake.
She rolled over onto her back and sighed. "Darn."
