"they're watching..." he mutters ignoring her questions. "I don't want to send you to them, Kenzey. Your not like all the other demons I've trapped."
Kenzey sighs, rubbing her temples. "I can't go... And what if they hurt you because you helped me get away?" she asks quietly, biting her lip.
Hale shrugs, "the worst they could do to me is rip out my wings..."
(I have an idea, we don't have to use it but I'm gonna throw it out there anyways.
So what if Kenzey was half demon and half angel? The archangel could be after her because she's not natural and also as a punishment to her parents. It could also be why Hale doesn't understand her and why she isn't acting like the regular demon type?)
(That would definitely work.)
Kenzey flinches, rubbing her shoulder and cringing at the thought. "Hale, that would hurt. A lot. He//, getting stabbed in the wing multiple times..." She pauses, realizing what she'd said.
Hale notices her cringe and looks at her curiously, "You speak as if you know from experience..."
"Because I'm a mutt," Kenzey mutters, kicking a pebble and sighing. "Obviously a mutt that's wanted dead..."
"wait, so you're a hybrid? Half angel, half demon?" he looks at her a little shocked, he never knew there was such thing.
(sorry but I have to go for now. I will post again tomorrow at some point.)
(Alright.)
"Say it a little louder, why don't you?" Kenzey mutters, glancing at him sharply. "Yes, I'm a hybrid."
"Oh man, now I know why they want you so badly. " he says, frustrated that he knew nothing about this and was just going to hand her over to them without any hesitation.
Kenzey sighs, biting her lip and beginning to turn back toward the forest. "I guess it's up to you what happens to me," she says quietly. She sounded almost scared, her voice trembling slightly.
" I won't let them have you. They'll murder you." he grabs her wrist lighty and pulls her close. "Will you let me keep you safe?"
"I thought that was your job, to kill me," Kenzey says, not pulling away, but not answering his question either. She didn't know what to say. She wanted to believe someone was actually trying to protect her, but it was such a foreign idea to her...
"My job is to trap demons and send them to the Archangel, I only kill if my life is in danger or if my methods will not hold the demon." Hale tries to clarify this for her. "Will you let me help you, Kenzey?". He asks softly, trying to assure her that he really did want to protect her.
"Oh," Kenzey says quietly, nodding. "Yeah... I'll let you help me, if you're sure. You really don't have to... I've lived pretty much on my own my whole life..."
Hale takes her hand in his, "I want to help, and I give you my word that I will help you to the best of my abilities."
Kenzey smiles faintly, relaxing slightly. "Thank you. I... I can't even begin to explain how much that means to me," she murmurs.
"Come on, let's get the heck out of the forest and somewhere a little safer." he releases her hand from his grasp and gives her a warm smile.
Kenzey nods, quickly grabbing what few things she had before returning to him. "Yeah. I'll follow you." She sighs, glancing around the forest, already starting to miss the place she'd called home since she was 17.
Hale leads her out of the forest and down the street to his hotel. He goes in and up to his room, opening the door he motions for her to go inside.
Kenzey tentatively walks inside, glancing about like a caged animal. She'd become so used to having the freedom to move about wherever she pleased without any walls stopping her. "It's so weird being back in an actual room..."
