Hale looks at her for a second before grabbing one of the many pillows from the bed and a spare blanket from the closet, throwing them onto the couch. "How long have you been out there?" he asks her, rifling through his duffle bag.
(Okay.)
"Since I was 17," Kenzey says, hanging up her bow and quiver before shrugging. "I stole a few blankets, made the bow and arrows along with the quiver, and taught myself to hunt."
"How's your aim?" he grabs an oversized tshirt out of the bag and tosses it to her.
"I can make a perfect shot 49 out of 50 times," Kenzey says, easily catching the shirt. "So obviously not the best, but pretty close."
"Do you know how to use any other weapons?" Hale asks curiously, impressed.
"A hunting knife if I get close enough. That's about it, though," Kenzey says, frowning slightly and changing into the T-shirt.
Hale nods and looks away as she changes, "You can have the bed." he says and pulls off his tshirt, and changing into sweat pants, leaving his chest bare.
(someone wants to join your New years day RP. Just thought I'd let you know :) )
"You're sure?" Kenzey questions, glancing at the bed with a mixture of longing and distrust. "I can take the couch. It doesn't bother me at all..."
Hale laughs, "I'm sure." he goes into the bathroom and grabs his toothbrush, turning on the tap. "There's an extra toothbrush in here if you want it."
Kenzey nods slightly, muttering something about needing to buy a hair brush as she walks into the bathroom. "Thanks... Y'know, for helping me."
Hale smiles a bit and shrugs in response, not knowing what to say. He finishes brushing his teeth and sets his toothbrush on the counter grabbing the spare one for Kenzey he hands it to her. "If you want you can take a shower, there are clean towels right there." he points to a small shelf with fluffy white towels and leaves the bathroom. He lays down on the couch, folding hks hands behind his head.
A few minutes later Kenzey came out, her damp hair sticking to her skin. She silently gets into the bed, curling up beneath the blankets and sighing softly. "Why do you want to protect me?" she asks, her voice barely above a whisper. "You hardly know me and I've never done anything that would make me worth protecting."
Hale had been wondering the same thing himself. " I don't know..." he replies "There's just something that keeps nudging me to help you. And overwhelming need to protect you from the higher ups..."
Kenzey sighs, nodding slightly and closing her eyes. "Weird. Hale... If it comes to where your only options are to lose your wings or turn me in... Turn me in," she says.
Hale gets up and turns off the light, ignoring her statement knowing that probably wouldn't happen. He would lose his wings before he ever turned her in. He slides back onto the couch and pulls the blanket ontop of himself, closing his eyes. "Goodnight, Kenzey."
"Night, Hale," Kenzey says softly, snuggling into the blankets. Seconds later she was asleep, completely relaxed.
Hale rolls onto his side. 'What is it that draws me to this girl...' he thinks to himself, trying to come up with an answer before drifting off into a dark dreamless sleep.
Kenzey wakes up early the next morning, stifling a yawn and just laying there for a while as she lets her mind process all that had happened in the past couple of days. She slips silently out of bed after some time, combing her hair out with her fingers.
Hale shifts in his sleep, dangerously close to falling off the couch.
