I am 16, and my torso is tattooed. I have a celtic cross on my side, a phoenix on my shoulders, a pistol that looks like it's coming out of my back pocket, a sunflower on my hip, a few Irish phrases scattered around, and I'm gonna get a wolf or a fox wrapped around my other side soon. I love all my tattoos, they express me. But other people think they are trashy and weird. They think that I'm to young to have tattoos, when I wear a bikini or a backless dress, people can't stop staring at my tattoos. Am I really to young to have tattoos? And should I stop getting them?

I agree with leaf. But your tattoos don't sound ugly. There's a girl I know who got the nape of her neck tattooed with a butterfly and it looks horrible. Personally I would never get a tattoo because I'm afriad of the pain.

personally, I won't ever get a tattoo because they're permanent, you can't get rid of them. What's cool today is going to be taboo tommorrow, you know what I mean? - they also can go very wrong and look kind of, well trashy. So there's a fine line, and also issues like future employment, infections, etc. etc.

It doesn't hurt that much, the needle doesn't actually pierce your skin like it does with a piercing. It only hurts if it's a big tattoo. My phoenix took four hours and by the end of it all I could do was lie on my stomach for the rest of the day. I think of it like a substitute for her.oin to get a tattoo, I'd rather use a needle to give myself a tattoo then use a needle to shoot up.

I think you're going to find a better subsitute no offence! You're going to wind up like someone in a circus if you're not cearful. But I guess it's whatever works for you.

i have a tattoo on my hip, its a tree of life like thing, my own little concept, and im 17. im planning on getting more soon. i really think that there is nothing wrong with it as long as they mean something, and you know that you will have it forever. i wanted mine when i was 16 too, but my dad had me wait so i could be sure.

I have no problem with other people getting tatoos, it's their body and not mine, after all, but I would never get one myself. I can see how that form of expression is appealing, but it's also PERMAMENT. I don't think I could stare at the same picture or word for the rest of my life. People change. And you might regret getting a tatoo when you're older.

ok, so how painful are tattoos? i really really want one, and i want one on like my shoulder, arm, finger, or like behind my ear. small ones. words or little things, like lyrics, designs, that kind of thing. the downside is i have a weird fear of the underside of my forearm and my wrist- the part thats all soft and pale. it just freaks me out and i can't look at it (don't judge me!) especially my wrists. i just cant do it! it scares me! but that's where i would want a tattoo- isn't that weird? but i've heard it hurts really bad to get hand tattoos for some reason.. tell me!!

Well, I am 17 years old and I already am working on sleeves. For those who don't know tattoos, that is when your arms are completely covered basically by tattoos. I am a dude though, so it might be different than it is with girls.

I feel young now.... I'm fourteen (FIFTEEN IN TWO DAYS!) and I have:
The BVB Pentagram symbol on my right wrist
Stay Strong on my left wrist
Serethiel in runes on my right ankle
the Deathly Hallows (I'm a nerd, get over it) on my left ankle.
For my fifteenth birthday, a couple of my friends are taking me to get another tattoo, on the side of my neck. It's going to be the pentagram etched in the sun with a cresent moon on either side. I plan on getting quite a few more tattoos. The ones on my wrist are to keep me from cutting- I can't cut where the tattoo is, it messes up the look of the tattoo REALLY bad. So, yeah, you aren't too young, and get as many as you want :)

Get as many tattoos as you want as long as they mean something to you. People always throw the "what about when you're old with wrinkles?" I'd rather have wrinkles with art on them than just wrinkles.
