I consider myself a goth, but I don't think that I'm of the stereotypical variety.  Post what you think a good definition of a goth is, stereotypes aside.  I'm curious.

Wears mostly black punk and military inspired clothing. Pale skin and dark hair, heavy dark eye makeup or dark/ red lipstick if any makeup at all. Listen to metal music, always a horror movie fan, resentment towards bubbly and bright people, and immense hatred for society. But then all counter cultures don't like society all that much. Would you say I got it?

Yeah I agree but there are different feelings of the dark styles like punk and such too.

I don't consider punk and goth the same thing at all. People who are goth care what others think about them and stick to a set fashion. Punks are people who love angry music, alcohol, getting into fights and anarchy. I guess the main difference is that goths know they are goth, they may even strive to be goth, and they start being a goth in middle school or high school or even later on while punks are born punk. Punk isn't a fashion statement, it's a lifestyle.

I got my definition of goth from Voltaire. Of course, I barely remember anything he said.

It depends on the person..... goth people wear dark clothes and so do punk and emo..... emo people also think either about hurting themselfs or other people..... while punks just think of rock music..... and  other people dress up just for attention

Do you mean the goth fashion or the goth mindset? Because (Correct me if I'm wrong) I've been told the goth mindset (by goths) is that it's an acceptance and finding the beauty in darkness, and incorporating it into their every day life. I believe the gothic style is an expression of that.
