1.Stamina 2. Will power 3. Creativity (not the most important thing) 4. A muse 5. A tortured soul.
All writers are insane* in some way shape or form, we suffer from over-activity in a certain portion of our brain. It is niether abad thing nor is it dangerous it is just what makes us so da.mn good with the written word
*Some A LOT more insane than others

Oh, and how could I forget?! A thesaurus is one of the most useful things for a writer, in my opinion at least.

Here's what I always need when I write: 1. Microsoft Word on my computer 2. Inspiration 3. A thesaurus 4. Music of any sort 5. Willpower. As in, "I don't want to write this story anymore, but if I don't finish it I'll never get back to it." IDK, that's just me.
