"Of course you are...I understand perfectly [that you're in love with me], because I'm in love with myself. The fact that I'm not transfixed in front of the nearest mirror takes a great deal of self-control." -Lestat de Lioncourt

On the 10th month of the solar year
On the darkest 31st day
All of the demons living round here
Come on out so they can play
Witches cackling
Deaths a frolicking
Children screaming
In delight
Pumpkins grinning
Doorbells ringing
Shades are singing
In the night
Candles burning
Ghosts a twirling
Skeletons whirling
Till dawn’s twilight
But the demons dance their last dance
Before the time the hallows come
And return to their respective graves
Because the darkest night is done

I wrote this while walking home a couple of years ago, after seeing an enormous jack-o-lantern, and feeling need to pay tribute to Halloween.
