Gay marriages

Most people believe in "marriage being an institution between one man and one woman, marriage is for procreation and continuation of species, same sex couples aren't in the proper environment to raise children, and gay relationships are immoral." But says who? If marriage is for procreation, how come people are complaining about overpopulation in the world? And just because two people of the same sex are raising a child, it doesn't mean that they're unable to do so. Because according to an article by Lisa Leff, it says that, "children raised by same sex parents are as safe from abuse as kids who grow up with a mother and father." So an opposite gender marriage is equal to a same sex couple trying to raise a child. With gay relationships being immoral, that's a person's own opinion. People only say it's immoral because it doesn't say in the bible that gay marriages are appropriate and to follow God's orders, but God didn't write the bible.

Even thought 70% of people in the United States aren't against gay marriage, some states have legalized gay marriages. These states include; New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont, New York, California, Rhode Island, New Mexico, and Washington. But even though these states have legalized gay marriages, it doesn't mean that the people that live there don't oppose gay marriages.

There's also the question, "why do people even oppose gay marriages?" But one of the reasons is because many people stereotype and that "gays are unable to form lasting relationships." But whether you're gay or not, it's up to the person whether they can form a relationship that will last. Just like with any other couple or marriage, the more you mature the more you being to appreciate. People who are gay are human just like the rest of us, they take their past mistakes and learn from them and grow more mature from them. And even though they have the same rights as everyone else, why can't they marry? An anonymous quote said "people fall in love with a person, not a gender."

This is a huge subject in debate right now. People need to understand that marriage no matter gay or straight is still a right given to us. No one has any right to say who you can and cannot marry. You should be able to be happy with whom you choose and not who society thinks you should choose. I just hope that humanity realizes this and we can stop all discrimination in the world.

I completely agree with this. Why should someone be upset if another person is gay when it will have no effect on his or her life. I also love the quote at the very end.
