They conquer who believe they can-John Dryden

I can see your footprints
On my clear mind;
Though you’re long forgotten
And your footprints, faded
I know you’re still there,
In the sands, I call “mind”.

One time, now passed
You had breezed into my mind,
Floating like a little feather
Invisibly you walked out of my mind;
I can never think a thought like you again,
You are the song I could never write.

I'm not sure whether you're actually talking about a song or a person, but if it's the former, I can relate. It's such a frustrating feeling to have something float in and out of your mind like that! You captured that feeling perfectly and the image of a tiny feather is perfect.
